Canada is one of the hardest countries in the world to obtain a visa for. Based on the country corruption  index and economic situation, you may need either a temporary resident visa or an electronic travel authorization (e-TA). Usually, Europeans and North Americans need only an e-ta to come.
As for other countries – they need to prove, that they will come back to their countries after they visit Canada – that is called VISA.

eTA – is a simple process compared to visa issuance. It is issued to citizens of visa exempt countries. The applicant only needs to fill out a request online, eTA applications does not require extensive background checks and long processing time as TRVs.

The applicant can visit Canada multiple times as long as the TRV or eTA is valid. But each visit must not be longer than 6 months. The applicant can apply for extension to extend his/her stay
